Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the WMSU technology business incubation for start-ups?

- The incubation program can be up to 2 years (maximum) for the basic incubation & 2 years (maximum) for the advanced incubation.

What do you require from a start-up to be incubated (admitted)?

- A sound technology-based business idea, a business pitch, and/or a business plan.

We already have an existing business; can we still be admitted for incubation?

- Yes, provided that the business idea is qualified for incubation support.

I have an innovative technology (with or without IP) for business venture/commercialization, how can TBIU help me put up my business?

-Your Intellectual Property should be protected. The WMSU TBIU, with the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), shall help you secure appropriate IP protection before commercialization. The TBIU will help you develop a plan and achieve your business goals through monitoring, consultations, access to the expert pool, and more. For your security, the TBIU and ITSO offices shall execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement with you regarding your technology from the start of the incubation program.

I already have undergone a lot of training in entrepreneurship, do I still have to go through the same training offered by the TBIU?

-No. Before admission as incubatee (pre-incubatee), a curriculum will be prepared for you with a list of relevant training course offerings. The applicant will only attend the training courses they chose from the start. The TBI manager will ask for copies of relevant training certificates you attended in the last three (3) years. Attendance to other TBI training not included in the incubatees curriculum shall be optional.
