Strengthening Entrepreneurial Skills: WMSU ATBI Holds Incubatee Training on Business Plan Creation

On September 4, 2025, the Western Mindanao State University–Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation (WMSU ATBI) conducted a Training on Business Plan Creation at Camino Restaurant, Boalan, Zamboanga City. The activity aimed to build the entrepreneurial and managerial capabilities of incubatees by guiding them through the fundamentals of business planning and financial management. The training featured Ms. Emilyn D. Varona, RAISE Program Technical Specialist III, as the resource speaker, and was participated in by the personnel of Camino Restaurant, one of WMSU ATBI’s incubatees.

The session began with preliminaries and a welcome message from Ms. Abiegail Villamor, Project Technical Assistant II. Ms. Varona then delivered an engaging lecture on the key elements of a business plan—covering organizational background, financial structure, and operational planning. Participants actively joined the discussion, asking questions and sharing experiences relevant to their enterprise operations. During the workshop that followed, participants were divided into three groups, each focusing on specific business plan components such as company overview, financial analysis, and operations management. The activity was both interactive and practical, culminating in the development of a comprehensive draft business plan tailored for Camino Restaurant. After a shared lunch featuring signature ZamPen Native Chicken dishes, the afternoon session continued with guided workshops and group presentations.

The training concluded with an assessment of learning outcomes and closing remarks from Ms. Villamor, who commended the participants for their dedication and teamwork. Through this activity, WMSU ATBI successfully strengthened the incubatees’ understanding of business planning and strategic decision-making. The university continues to empower local enterprises by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to achieve growth, sustainability, and innovation within the agri-aqua industry.
