Empowering Local Innovators: WMSU ATBI Conducts Initial Site Visit and Incubatee Business Monitoring

From October 1 to 3, 2025, the Western Mindanao State University–Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (WMSU ATBI) carried out an Initial Site Visit and Incubatee Business Monitoring across various barangays in Zamboanga City. The three-day activity aimed to evaluate the performance and progress of enterprises under the incubation program, focusing on technology adoption, business operations, and sustainability practices. Participating incubatees engaged in Oyster Mushroom Production, Zampen Native Chicken raising, and Black Soldier Fly production welcomed the monitoring team composed of Ms. Mercelyn Tilus, Ms. Angela Jalon, and Ms. Emilyn Varona, who provided technical and business development guidance throughout the visits.

The monitoring covered a wide range of enterprises situated in Malagutay, Tulungatung, Pamucutan, Culianan, Divisoria, Vitali, and Latuan. Each visit offered valuable insights into the incubatees’ ongoing activities and progress. Highlights included the innovative integration of mushroom and poultry production systems, improved management practices, and strong adherence to sustainable approaches. Outstanding incubatees such as Ms. Jelly Piala, Ms. Gemma Bahani, Ms. Pilar Villaver, Ms. Virginia Benido, Ms. Rubylyzle Alrayes, and the collaborative group of Mr. Bonifacio Laborada, Mr. Rodolfo Resurrecion, and Mr. Rene Sibug, showcased remarkable commitment to growth and innovation. Meanwhile, Ms. Analiza Ong’s Black Soldier Fly Production enterprise stood out for its eco-friendly approach to feed development and circular resource use.

WMSU ATBI extends its appreciation to all participating incubatees for their continued dedication and enthusiasm toward enterprise development. The university’s ATBI program remains steadfast in supporting local agri-aqua entrepreneurs by fostering innovation, promoting sustainable technologies, and building resilient communities. Through consistent mentorship and on-site engagement, WMSU continues to strengthen its mission of transforming research-based technologies into inclusive livelihood opportunities that uplift local industries and rural economies.
