WMSU spearheads the RAISE Program Inception Meeting in Western Mindanao

Commencing at 9:00 AM, the meeting opened with a solemn prayer, followed by the heartfelt rendition of the national anthem and Zamboanga Hermosa. Engr. Arvic S. Francisco, the Regional IPTBM Project Leader, presided over the session. During his address, he introduced Dr. Nursia M. Barjose (Vice President for Academic Affairs), representing University President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, who delivered a motivational message, setting the stage for a day of collaboration and innovation.
The primary agenda of the meeting focused on the presentation and deliberation of project deliverables and budget approvals for various RAISE program projects. This was presented by key project leaders, including:
𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐄. 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐚, RAISE Program Leader in Western Mindanao, presented Project 3 Regional ATBI deliverables and work plan.
𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐀𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐒. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨, Regional IPTBM Project Leader, presented Project 1 Component A for Regional deliverables and Component B for the existing IPTBM.
𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐡 𝐇. 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐨, Regional Project Leader for Regional Knowledge Management Hub in Western Mindanao, presented deliverables and the draft Regional logo for RAISE Region 9, gathering comments and inputs for the final logo revision.
𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀. 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥, Regional Project Leader for Project 2: Establishment of Regional Agri-business Hub, presented project deliverables and targeted activities for Year 1 implementation and a brief explanation of the TRL Level as a guide for identifying technology readiness level as an input for IP Audit.
Additionally, CMI Project Leaders Dr. Maila V. Pan (IPTBM Project Leader for Fisheries/ZSCMST), Mr. Rickler R. Detalla (IPTBM Project Leader for JHCSC), Mr. Yhebron J. Lagud (IPTBM Project Leader for JRMSU), and Engr. Evangeline P. Garcia (IPTBM Project Leader for PRRI) highlighted their respective project deliverables and Year 1 target activities.
During the afternoon session, Engr. Francisco provided insights into IP Audit, discussing its definition, scope, and commercially viable technologies. Ms. Hazel E. Serra, Technical Assistant II for Region 9, briefly updated the attendees on the status of IP Policy and Technology Transfer Protocol, representing Atty. Maria Pilar Luisa C. Elago, the current ITSO Manager for the WMSU-IPTBM Office.
Whereas, Mr. Given Love Senturias, Project Staff of Regional IPTBM presented the Technology Commercialization Process Flow in WMSU, of which it served as a clearer guide for the CMIs in the projection of their technologies.
The meeting also included discussions on major plan activities led by Dr. Autida. Towards its conclusion, Engr. Swidin S. Husin, the Associate Director of RDEC, emphasized the way forward for the RAISE Program and its partner CMIs. He highlighted the importance of institutionalizing IPTBM in their respective institutions and maintaining open lines of communication for successful project conduct and regional deliverables.
